And The Sheep Said....

The sheep had gone from shop to shop
The sheep had gone from cop to cop
Old ewe went from her grown up ram
Muttering 'Why did he go to Ham?'

The sheep wrote to the flock astray
Reporting how sheep felt most days
The sheep heede the Creator's clock
Hirelings paid no heed to the struggling flock

The sheep did as the sheep should do
Violence isn't part of the ewe crew
And  when the the tough ram went astray
His mother ewe's covering became gray

The tough ram started his own flock
They didn't heed the creator's clock
Old mother ewe, surely not happy.
That young ram left her feeling crappy

Old mother ewe then sought a caring vet
Who hearing woes, he would not fret
Since he did not create the woes
He even cleaned the old ewe's toes

'Oh my' said the old vet with ears
I see the old mother ewe has tears
Those tears aren't fake, she's in real pain!
Young ram wouldn't come to her by plane?

The old vet showed old ewe real love
He hovered near her like a swift dove
He didn't muzzle the old ewe's lips
He gave her records of HIS trips

The old vet's trips as a Marine
Were full of horrid violent scenes
And when he returned from the wars
He wrote and drew then considered his scars

Eventually old vet went about
And among strangers he did not pout
He sought those who might like to read
About his past and who met his need

I took the book from old vet's hands
Like music passed to high school bands
There was a mix of sorrows and joys
Verbally he then told of his boys

His boys were close enough to see
The old vet's house quite frequently
Because of this the old vet painted
And with his boys he is acquainted

The old ewe hoped her aging ram
Would protect her from pain and Ham
But since he won't what should she do?
She writes like old vets when she's blue

Her young ram hasn't given old ewe
Enough consideration - that is true!
But did the old ewe write too much?
8 years young ram offered no loving touch!

The old ewe looked for, like a mom
A ram who'd help her.... not a bomb
When old ewe's desire wasn't seen
Young ram complained 'Old ewe is mean!'

Old ewe might now seem mean to some
To those who to her aid wouldn't come
Old ewe still reaches out to others
Willing to help her like kind brothers

The shepherd that still cares for old ewe
Doesn't bustle toward a Sunday pew
Good shepherds value an alert Sheepdog
Who might be reading old ewe's strange blog

Is old ewe really mean and cruel
Because she won't buy guns to duel?
Would old ewe be easier to approach
If dead or lying like a cockroach?

Richard Willer marked his painting '04'
To establish time and place and more
His painting has ducks and calm gray skies
His ears truly heard old ewe's real cries

🍯🐻

Old ewe, like a live vet, often tries
To discern signals from the skies
She is no eel - old ewe's not hiding
Like hornets tucked in metal siding

Van Williams became Dick's TV chuckler
'Clark Rice' ain't Sidney! Buy a Buckler!'
Flippant lines crammed into a war
Might help improve team Elisha's score 🏈🦢

If today old ewe ends all that she's written
What if young ram by scorpions gets bitten?
Old ewe rather finish with a joyous ending
Old ewe vs. ram's outcome is pending
