Deuteronomy 27:16 is not a common 'sermon' topic in assemblies where not only have they eradicated good rules and regulations, they then must think that it is someone other than. that 'saves' them and is able to reverse their family patterns of stupidity, carelessness and all to often, lawlessness.
I thought about the stone known as jasper; it does not let light through it. If you have 'made light' of your relationship with either of your parents, where might those parents seek refuge and a sense of worth? I suppose it would be with a tribe who's stone DOES let the light through, such as agate or amethyst or topaz. יהוה is clearly able make room in for a mother or father who has repented of their wrongdoings, even if their children are too hard-hearted to forgive them or notice their changes from youthful stupidity and lawlessness to sanity, responsibility and lawfulness.
Are you a grieving parent who loves the word of. יהוה at the same time your children have made light of you? Do not make light of your living parents or their role in your family tree to obtain blessings that might ease the heartache. If your children have made light of you, don't try to be as a Benjamite affiliated with a jasper cornerstone that has to hard and rough and sturdy in the perimeter of the world' many battle zone. Everything written prior to this sentence would actually make a wonderful sermon for the broken hearted who indeed have learned to resist the trends that claim Deuteronomy chapter 27 and surrounding chapters doesn't still apply to living people who prefer having the faith of a reformed ישראלי rather than setting goals to be popular among heathens while on the payrolls of commercial churches slapped into the 501C3 restraints of political wickedness and doctrines that attract more money rather than develop righteousness.
